Our Process
Producing a lion's mane triple extract involves a meticulous process to ensure the maximum extraction of both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds, capturing the full spectrum of its medicinal properties. Here's a detailed description of the process:
1. Sourcing and Preparation
- High-Quality Mushrooms: The process begins with sourcing high-quality lion's mane mushrooms, we grow ours organically to avoid pesticides and contaminants. We solely use our homegrown Hericium erinaceus during the extraction process, keeping farming alive and well!
- Drying: The fresh mushrooms are thoroughly dried to prevent mold growth and to concentrate the bioactive compounds.
2. Cold Soak
- Infuse: This involves prolonged exposure to cold water for several hours, which helps to extract the water-soluble polysaccharides, and other beneficial compounds that may be destroyed or are sensitive to heat.
- Filtration: After soaking in cold water, the mixture is filtered to remove the solid mushroom material, leaving a concentrated liquid extract, and hydrated lions mane- ready for the HEAT!
3. Hot Water Extraction
- Decoction: This involves simmering the mushrooms in water for several hours, which helps to extract the water-soluble polysaccharides, beta-glucans, and other beneficial compounds.
- Filtration: After simmering, the mixture is filtered to remove the solid mushroom material, leaving a concentrated liquid extract.
4. Alcohol Extraction
- Maceration: The filtered mushroom material from the hot water extraction is then soaked in alcohol. This process, known as maceration, extracts the alcohol-soluble compounds such as hericenones and erinacines, which are crucial for the mushroom’s neuroprotective benefits.
- Straining: After sufficient time, the alcohol solution is strained to separate the liquid extract from the solid residues.
5. Combining Extracts
- Blending: The cold/hot water extract and the alcohol extract are then combined. This blend ensures that both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds are present in the final product, providing a comprehensive range of the mushroom’s medicinal properties.
- Concentration: The combined extract may be further concentrated by evaporating some of the solvent, increasing the potency of the final product.
6. Final Processing
- Quality Testing: The triple extract is subjected to rigorous quality testing to ensure purity, potency, and safety.
- Bottling: The final, concentrated triple extract is then bottled, typically in dark glass bottles to protect it from light degradation, and labeled for distribution.
This meticulous production process ensures that the lion’s mane triple extract is a potent and effective supplement, capturing the full range of the mushroom’s health benefits.
